The Alliance des crus bourgeois du Médoc is one of the oldest ranking systems known in Bordeaux. It dates from the 15th century. Today, the Alliance des crus bourgeois du Médoc counts 290 châteaux, covering Médoc's 8 AOC's. The Alliance des crus bourgeois du Médoc has finally adopted a new classification system. It is based on a visit of the cellars and the vineyards by an independent organism, followed by a professional blind tasting. The evaluation is to be reconducted every year.
The list of the châteaux who are recognised by the Alliance des crus bourgeois du Médoc will be known on Sept. 15, 2010.
