We met Éric Bouletin for the first time during the Summer 2009, in the town of Vacqueyras. His little winery, just recently built behind his postcard house was not easy to find in a town, where at least 10 Bouletins are listed in the white pages! But there is only one domain named “Roucas Tumba”.
As Éric explained, the vines are at the center of Roucas Toumba. He describes himself as a vine grower as opposed to a wine maker. And the vines are tended with an extreme care, spared from any chemical treatment and of course harvested by hand.
To make “Les Restanques de Cabassole”, the grapes of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre are handled with a lot of precision and modesty to express the subtleness of the Vacqueyras terroirs. Notes of black and red fruits are combined with surprising elegance and finesse in this atypical wine full of energy and freshness.
