For most of us, vinomaniacs, the Bourgogne Pinot Noir is the only likely experience we may have to enjoy the highly praised wines made by Anne Gros. Her Grands Crus, all located in the blessed village of Vosne-Romanée are so rare that they are simply impossible to find.
As expected in a Pinot Noir, the wine is light-colored, ruby, with nuances of purple and very brilliant. The nose offers the characteristic varietal hints of crushed strawberries, or raspberries combined with darker smoky and flinty aromas. The palate is a bit austere, pure, mineral, fresh.
So, what makes this wine an Anne Gros wine? Well, she is earnest, and she takes her terroirs very seriously. And this wine is a serious terroir wine. Anne Gros is a skilled wine maker and produces seamless. That is talent.
