Quelques rares noms font "tilt" dans l'esprit de tout amateur averti de vin. C'est sans aucun doute le cas pour "Les Vignes de l'Enfant Jésus". La seule évocation de ce nom fait saliver tous les adorateurs de vin de Bourgogne.
Les Vignes de l'Enfant Jésus sont situées à Beaune Les Grèves Premier Crus. "Les Grèves"sont ce qu'on appelle un "Climat", c'est à dire un Terroir spécifique de la Bourgogne qui produit des vins plutôt intenses et complexes à base de pinot noir.
A l'origine, ces 4 hectares de terres étaient gérés par les Carmélites de Beaune. D'après la légende, une des nonnes du Couvent de Beaune avait prédit la naissance de Louis XIV, alors que sa mère, la Reine Anne d'Autriche, était donnée pour stérile. Le nom est resté attaché au vignoble, même après que Bouchard Père et Fils ait acquis la parcelle durant la Révolution Française.
Dans les Grèves, les pentes sont assez raides, le sol sabloneux a des qualités particulières qui facilitent l'irrigation.
Les vins des Vignes de l'Enfant Jésus sont puissants mais élégants, soyeux mais frais.
Bouchard Père et Fils est le plus grands propriétaire bourguignon de Grands Crus (12ha) et Premiers Crus (74 ha).
Depuis l'arrivée de Joseph Henriot en 1995, beaucoup de progrès ont été réalisés aussi bien en ce qui concerne la viticulture, que l'investisement dans des équipements nouveaux. L'équipe en charge de faire le vin, a maintenant à sa disposition des outils qui lui permettent de produire des vin "précis" et "rigoureux"qui sont le style de ce domaine.
"Les vignes de l'Enfant Jésus" sont dans le style de ce que produit le domaine: précis, l'austérité du millésime est contre-balancé par la délicatesse et la fraïcheur des notes de fruit rouge. La profondeur du vin et la qualité du terroir s'exprimeront pleinement avec un garde de quelques années.
